Creative Chaos Goes Overseas - Assists Coverage in Switzerland for Openair Frauenfeld
This summer, I traveled to Switzerland to assist with photography and videography coverage for Openair Frauenfeld 2026, one of Europe’s largest hip-hop festivals. The opportunity allowed me to expand my work internationally while documenting some of the biggest and fastest-rising artists in music, including Gunna, EsDeeKid, Che, Ski Mask The Slump God, and Don Toliver.
Throughout the festival, I worked across different stages and environments, capturing both photography and video that showcased the artists, performances, and energy surrounding Frauenfeld. Working internationally also pushed me to adapt quickly, manage different shooting conditions, and capture moments that could translate beyond traditional concert coverage.
A major highlight of the trip was working directly with Don Toliver’s performance coverage. I was positioned with a close stage-angle camera for his entire set, capturing an intimate perspective of Don performing in front of the massive Frauenfeld crowd. Footage I shot during the performance was later used in an Instagram post by Don Toliver showcasing his unreleased song, “Too Much Money.” Seeing my footage become part of the artist’s own content and new-music rollout made the experience especially significant.
The trip also created memorable moments outside of the festival itself, including crossing paths with Ski Mask The Slump God at a hotel in Zurich before his performance. From unexpected interactions in Zurich to shooting directly beside the stage in Frauenfeld, the experience gave me a new perspective on working within music internationally.
Openair Frauenfeld became much more than another festival to photograph. It was an opportunity to contribute directly to artist content, expand into international music coverage, and continue developing my work beyond photography into videography, behind-the-scenes content, and visual storytelling surrounding artists and their music.
